Wells-Morrison joined the Palace pre-Academy at the age of six, after impressing at a Goals summer camp run by the club. He and his family are Season Ticket holders in the Main Stand.
His early years were defined by a search for his best position: after beginning his youth career as a striker and then pushed onto the wing, he filled in at left-back while undergoing a growth spurt. Upon return from injury, he found his ideal role in the centre of midfield.
At Under-15s level, he scored a goal in a 3-2 victory over Wigan in the final of the 2019 Premier League Super Floodlit Cup.
After starting the 2020/21 season in central-midfield, he moved to the No. 10 position for the run-in and scored seven goals in the process, as well as creating plenty of chances for his teammates. His performances saw him often training with the Under-23s, once again demonstrating his versatility by starting two games for Shaun Derry’s side on the right of midfield.
Wells-Morrison earned his first England call-up in September 2021, joining the Under-18s team. He made six appearances in total during the 2021/22 campaign as the U18s took the title-fight right down to the wire.
The 21/22 campaign saw Wells-Morrison feature heavily for the Under-23s at the age of 18. Playing in his preferred central-midfield role, he made 22 appearances in all competitions, including starting in a 2-0 win over AFC Wimbledon in the EFL Trophy.
In 2022/23, Wells-Morrison has captained the Palace Under-21s side and has even filled in at left-back once more. He made the first-team matchday squad in the Carabao Cup tie against Oxford United in August 2022 and against Southampton and Newcastle United in the Premier League.
He scored a 93rd minute winner against Sporting Braga to send Palace U21s through to the knock-out stage of the tournament in February 2023. The midfielder followed this up in April with three successive penalties in three games - one being the winner away at Chelsea - which saw him nominated for Premier League 2 Player of the Month.
Wells-Morrison's performances over the 22/23 campaign saw him earn a nomination for the Premier League 2 Player of the Season award.
He made the first-team matchday squad against Plymouth Argyle in the second round of the Carabao Cup in August 2023. In November 2023, Wells-Morrison was nominated for PL2 Player of the Month once more, after scoring a brace in a 7-1 win against Leeds United.
