Riley: I'm really happy to get my first goal
Speaking to Palace TV, summer signing Indiah-Paige Riley reflected on scoring her first goal for Crystal Palace in the 1-1 draw against Everton.
Riley opened the scoring within the opening 30 seconds, finding the net after My Cato won the ball deep in the Everton half.
She said: "I don't remember too much about it, but I remember that it was a really good press from the team.”
Palace were in the lead for the majority of the game, but Everton managed to equalise on the 72nd minute thanks to a Honoka Hayashi strike.
"I think we had a really good start, but it wasn't the best game that we've played,” Riley said.
Head coach Laura Kaminski was quick to heap praise on Riley after her performance against Everton.
Speaking after the game, Kaminski said: "She got moved around a little bit today in terms of her positioning, and was asked to be a little bit more attack-minded.
"For me, she's answered that question and I'm delighted for her in getting her name on the score sheet."
Reflecting on her contribution, Riley said, “I'm just happy with my job, and I'm really happy to get my first goal.”
Looking ahead, Riley and the team are already focused on building momentum for Palace’s next game against Aston Villa.
She said: “We need to take the positives from this game and look at the things we can improve, and I'm really hoping to get the three points against Villa.”
Palace Women will face Aston Villa at Villa Park on Sunday 17th November at 14:00 GMT.
