Loan watch: Goodman and Whitworth keep clean sheets, Phillips gets assist

Another week of action has seen Palace’s loanees make further marks on their strong starts to their respective seasons, with many hitting milestones and extended good runs of form.

Both Owen Goodman and Joe Whitworth were in fine form for AFC Wimbledon and Exeter City respectively this weekend.

Goodman kept his fourth clean sheet in a row, building on an iconic third that he achieved last week. The goalkeeper made five saves to keep out all of Bradford City’s shots on target at Valley Parade to ensure a clean sheet and a point on the road for the travelling Dons.

For Exeter City, Whitworth was relatively unchallenged as he notched his third clean sheet of the season when he and his side ran out 2-0 winners against Stevenage Town.

In Scotland, Killian Phillips registered his first assist for St Mirren in their second win of their Scottish Premiership campaign.

The towering midfielder got a flick on to set up forward Toyosi Olusanya for a simple finish, giving St Mirren a 2-1 lead against Heart of Midlothian.

This eventually proved to be the winner, as the Paisley-based side climbed up the table with a huge three points.

In the Premier League, Odsonne Edouard made his debut for Leicester City, having been ineligible to face the Eagles the week before.

He came on off the bench in the 83rd minute for Jamie Vardy, though he couldn’t find a breakthrough as the Foxes drew 1-1 with Everton.

Elsewhere in the Championship, Jesurun Rak-Sakyi is continuing to find his feet with Sheffield United, playing 67 minutes in a 1-0 win over Derby County.

Malcolm Ebiowei also featured off the bench for Oxford United, though he couldn’t help them turn it around in a 2-1 defeat against Bristol City.

Full-backs Tayo Adaramola and Danny Imray both continue their starting berths for Stockport and Bromley respectively, however they left this weekend empty handed as The Hatters lost to Leyton Orient and Bromley were defeated by Grimsby.

In the National League, midfielder Jack Wells-Morrison managed a full 90 minutes for Wealdstone, as they fell to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of local rivals Barnet, while Roshaun Mathurin came on as a second-half substitute for Hartlepool against Dagenham & Redbridge.

Luke Plange also earned more minutes off the bench for HJK Helsinki in their 1-1 draw with VPS in Finland. Fellow striker Ademola Ola-Adebomi did not feature for SK Beveren after being named on the bench.

Naouirou Ahamada was named in the Rennes matchday squad for the first time, but he was also an unused substitute. Finally, David Ozoh missed Derby’s clash against Sheffield United due to injury.
