Loan Report: Rak-Sakyi Debuts in Turkey, Mustapha Returns to Action, Ozoh Gets Minutes

A number of Crystal Palace loanees were in action over the past week, turning out across the English football pyramid and further afield — with appearances stretching from South America to Europe.

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi - Çaykur Rizespor

Rak-Sakyi made his first start for Turkish Süper Lig side Çaykur Rizespor in their 2-1 defeat to Kasımpaşa on Saturday.

The 21-year-old winger started on the right flank and played 57 minutes before being replaced by Emracan Bulut. The match marked Rak-Sakyi's full debut for Rizespor, following his appearance as an unused substitute in the previous fixture against Kocaelispor.

Kasımpaşa took the lead in the 35th minute through Pape Habib Gueye, but Giannis Papanikolaou brought Rizespor level shortly after. The hosts were denied a point in dramatic fashion when Mortadha Ben Ouanes scored the winner in the 93rd minute.

The result leaves Çaykur Rizespor in 13th place with five points from six matches — one point above the relegation zone. Their current league record stands at one win, two draws, and three defeats.

Hindolo Mustapha - FC Nürnberg

Mustapha came off the bench for FC Nürnberg II in their 5-2 defeat against Illertissen in the Regionalliga Bayern — the fourth tier of German football — on Saturday.

The forward was introduced in the 60th minute with the score at 3-1, but Nürnberg were unable to mount a comeback and ultimately fell to a heavy loss. The result leaves them on 22 points after 11 matches, sitting just behind league leaders SpVgg Unterhaching, who have 26.

Despite recent setbacks, Mustapha was pictured training with FC Nürnberg’s first team last Wednesday. While he is yet to make his senior debut since joining the club on loan, it marks a very positive step forward.

Matheus Franca - Vasco da Gama

França featured in the final stages of Vasco da Gama’s impressive 2-0 win over second-placed Cruzeiro in Brazil’s top flight — the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A — on Saturday.

The winger replaced Philippe Coutinho in the 79th minute with the score already at 2-0, contributing to a strong finish as Vasco saw out the result. Rayan opened the scoring after just eight minutes, before Henrique doubled the lead in the 61st.

The victory moves Vasco da Gama up to 11th in the table, with 30 points from 25 matches (eight wins, six draws, 11 losses) — just one point above Corinthians as the battle for mid-table positions tightens.

Owen Goodman - Huddersfield Town

Goodman was an unused substitute in Huddersfield Town’s 1-0 defeat to Exeter City in League One on Saturday.

Touted as a potential "Goodman-Whitworth" derby, only Joe Whitworth featured, starting in goal for Exeter at St James Park.

The match marked Goodman’s return to the matchday squad after serving a suspension that sidelined him for three fixtures — against Peterborough United, Bradford City, and Burton Albion.

Huddersfield Town were victorious thanks to Leo Castledine’s superb first half strike.

Tayo Adaramola - Leyton Orient

Adaramola was not part of the matchday squad for Leyton Orient’s narrow 3-2 defeat to Stevenage in League One on Saturday.

The left-back was an unused substitute the previous weekend in a 2-1 loss to Reading and has not featured at all over the past month — missing out entirely in matches against Bolton Wanderers (1-1 draw) and Port Vale (3-2 win).

Leyton Orient face Cardiff City next, where Adaramola will be hoping to work his way back into contention.

David Ozoh - Derby County

Ozoh came off the bench for Derby in their 1-1 draw away at Wrexham in the Championship on Saturday.

The midfielder was named among the substitutes for the fourth consecutive match and was brought on in the 63rd minute, replacing Ebou Adams. He was part of a double change that also saw Bobby Clark come on for Andi Weimann.

The result sees Derby come from behind to secure a valuable point on the road, leaving them 21st in the Championship table with six points from seven games — just one point above the relegation zone.

Derby now prepare for back-to-back home fixtures, hosting Charlton Athletic on Tuesday before taking on Southampton next Saturday.

Victor Akinwale - Eastbourne Borough

Victor Akinwale was an unused substitute as Eastbourne Borough secured a 2-1 victory over Sholing in the FA Cup Third Qualifying Round on Saturday.

Danny Imray - Blackpool Town

Imray featured for the full 90 minutes as Blackpool were narrowly beaten 1-0 away to league leaders Bradford City in League One on Saturday.

This marked Imray’s third consecutive full match and his fourth start of the season.

Joe Whitworth - Exeter City

Whitworth was in goal for Exeter City as they fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat against Huddersfield Town at St James Park.

Despite creating several promising chances, Exeter were undone by a stunning curling strike from Leo Castledine. Cutting in from the left, Castledine bent the ball into the top corner from the edge of the box — a shot Whitworth had no chance of saving.

Whitworth has been ever-present for Exeter this season, playing 11 of their 12 competitive matches and completing every minute.

The Grecians now travel to Lincoln City for their next fixture.
