Selhurst Park was once again the start point for the Palace For Life Foundation’s annual Marathon March, where over 100 Palace fans and staff make the 26.2 mile walk from the club’s stadium to central London to raise funds for the charity.
Walker’s arrived at the stadium at the crack of dawn where tea, coffee and bacon sandwiches were on hand in Speroni’s Restaurant to get the day off to the best possible start.
Also in attendance were Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish, former Palace striker Mark Bright and comedian Eddie Izzard, who’s no novice when it comes to completing marathons.
Speaking about the event, Izzard said “walking a marathon is a joy for me! It’s great to be here. It’s all about helping young people in south London and mental health is our focus this year. I’m so pleased I was able to make it.”
Whilst only playing a very small part in the day, Selhurst Park was once again able to provide a perfect start to the event, with Events Manager Holly Britton not only helping to arrange the event, but also taking part in the walk.
