Former Palace manager entertains at Selhurst Park in December Sporting Dinner
On Thursday 5th December at Selhurst Park, eccentric former Palace manager Ian Holloway entertained a full house at our most recent Sporting Dinner.
Hosted by Jonathan Pearce, the pair recounted memories of Holloway’s days at Bristol Rovers, before discussing a wide range of engrossing topics stretching far beyond sport.
Holloway spoke in depth about subjects close to his heart, explaining the challenges he’s faced in his family life with two profoundly deaf daughters and how he learnt sign language to support his family with this.
Covering his time at Blackpool, Ian explained how he fought for his players during a difficulty period with the club ownership, before moving onto his time at Palace where he covered his huge respect for Wilfried Zaha, how his team defied the odds to secure promotion to the Premier League, as well as that famous night at the Amex Stadium.
After a riveting Q&A session, our guests enjoyed the bespoke menu curated by our Executive chef and Palace wines, as well as some fantastic entertainment by comedian Adger Brown.
The event included a raffle and auction, with proceeds directed to the CPFC Palace Women’s team, and club Chariman Richard Spokes highlighted the importance of fundraising for the women’s game.
This Sporting Dinner was one to remember for those in attendance, and our team would like to extend our thanks to attendees for their support on the event.
