Our Room in Focus series puts the spotlight on each of the rooms at Selhurst Park, highlighting the best features and versatility of the areas. This week we put the focus on the Stanley Stephenson Lounge.
Stanley Stephenson: Capacity 200, popular for weddings and large conferences
The room – The space is well lit, with natural daylight coming in from all three sides of the room which are lined with windows. The shape of the room is rectangle, so for conferences or events where there is a guest speaker we arrange rows of theatre seats placed horizontally facing the front of the room. For formal events, the seating arrangement is changed to theatre or dining style on round tables.
Catering – The food offering is flexible depending on the type of event. Each season we redevelop our menu offerings and have options that will suit all different tastes.
Bar area – The horizontal bar at the back of the room covers almost the entire wall, and easily serves 100 to 150 people when hosting large wedding parties, birthdays or funeral wakes. Still and sparkling water, tea, coffee, and biscuits can be laid on for conferences or training days where guests want refreshments in the same room. Alternatively, we have a number of breakout rooms which give delegates a chance to stretch their legs and break off into smaller groups.
Party package – The space in the lounge means we can be flexible with clients on how they want the room arranged to suit their style of party. Often guests will hire their own DJ who will be setup on the opposite side to the bar area – this then gives plenty of room for people to be on dancefloor, whilst for those who want a breather, there is standing space at the bar where they can chat to other guests.
Catering – Food buffet tables are placed at the far end of the room where we serve hot or cold finger buffets. These are often the best menu options for informal birthdays as it means people can snack throughout the evening. For this type of event, we also provide seating for up to sixty people on round tables (each seating 10 people), with some poser tables and stools which give an additional area for guests to sit and eat. For formal events involving a sit down meal, the seating plan and food menu will all be pre-arranged.
Formal events – Selhurst Park’s Business Club Lunch is one of the formal events often hosted in the Stanley Stephenson Lounge which involves a three-course meal plus a named guest speaker. The room can be set up with a stage and projector and we also have an in-house PA system which is available for clients to use. The large bar area at the back of the room can be used for guest arrival drinks and is a good place for people to network. The room will usually be setup cabaret style (6 or 7 people to each round table all facing the front) or dining (10 seated around the table facing each other).
